I've regularly signed on to follow other bloggers and have read with great interest about topics such as parenting, art, counseling, personal growth, yoga, etc. I always saw myself as a practitioner and local educator rather than a writer. Yet the truth is that I've been sharing information and educating the community around me for many years through writing articles for magazines and newsprint, offering educational talks, writing curriculum, and teaching in addition to meeting with clients privately in my office. Sharing wisdom, mistakes, techniques, resources, etc... is what other bloggers and I do every day.
So, here it is.
At this point, it seems that writing a blog is a natural leap... probably a little late in the game, but things happen when they do for a reason. Someone told me the other day that they thought I was "seasoned", which I interpreted to mean "old". But, in retrospect, I suppose this person was right. After twenty years in the clinical counseling and teaching field, it's clear that I have a passion for what I do. I feel compelled to serve and offer information that may be helpful somehow.
Through this blog, I'll be sharing mental health research, my thoughts about various topics as it relates to wellness, personal growth and peace, offering links to other great resources and inspirational quotes, recommending products and reflecting on things going on in my own life.
As a clinician, it's my responsibility to serve, educate and advocate.
Some of my favorite topics are parenting, relationships, ADHD, anxiety, midlife issues, women's issues, self esteem, and personal growth, among others. If you have ideas for blog entries for me, just send me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org. I'd love to hear from you!
