Loving Each Other is Patriotic!

Happy 4th of July!

It's a very rainy day here in Northwestern Virginia on July 4th, 2016.  We are vacationing and it has been unusually chilly.  Today, it's chilly and rainy.  It looks like the planned parade and festivities in a nearby town may be cancelled, so my family took off in the rain to scout around the gorge.

I stayed home under a blanket and caught up with friends online.

While I was browsing online, I found this wonderful video.

Take a look at this video and consider being open to increasing your awareness of your own biases that may lead to intolerances or distancing.  Our country is made up of so many interesting and diverse folks... it's what makes us so GREAT!

With the political and social issues that are swirling around us, it's easy for us to forget what is really true and what can keep us grounded.  Examining our own thinking, being open to considering other ideas, learning about other lifestyles and other cultures helps us to grow and change for the better both individually and as a society.  It's what we do in counseling sessions with regards to your self esteem, relationships, parenting, goals, etc.  Being mindful helps with judgment and decision making.

Celebrate differences

Let's remember to celebrate each other.  We are all so special with our own unique gifts, history and talents.  If we were all the same, it would be so boring!

One love, ya'll....    Loving each other is patriotic.

  1. I totally agree with you when you say that it's important to remember to celebrate each other. Sometimes it's so easy to forget that you're not the center of the universe and to honor the people around you!

  2. Thanks Alaina! spread the word....
